Our trade union, which also brings together BYD employees, has still not yet been registered, but hopefully this will happen soon. At the same time, since its establishment, we have been monitoring the international press and have heard worrying news about employment conditions.

Both Bloomberg’s Shanghai bureau and the New York office of China Labor Watch have reported terrible conditions regarding the situation of workers, so there is a great deal of work ahead of us. In any case, until the registration takes place, we are carrying out background work.

We have already had the documents of the new trade union translated into Mandarin, and we are working on a human-centered interpreting system in order to support the integration, protection, and representation of the Chinese workers here, alongside the representation of our own members. Our colleagues in Makó already have some experience in this, since, at an individual level, workers generally maintained good relations with Far Eastern workers.

Sincerely,

Gábor Radics
